The "Little Big Band" Series We recognize that not all schools and jazz-playing institutions can field a full big band every year. For that reason, we have created the "Little Big Band" Series of compositions scored for slightly less than a full big band, such as four saxes or six brass total. The "Little Big Band" Series includes a variety of styles, such as swing, ballads,  and fusion tunes. Enjoy! Will I Ever See Her Again By Eddie Carr Listen to it and see the score here: A fun, pleasing, and modern tune. A sort of light, straight-eighths Fusion groove. Open solos for anyone. Easy to learn, but great sounding. Modern, contemporary. Premiered by the Maryville University “Kitchen Sink” jazz ensemble. In keeping with the Mid-Sized Band concept, this tune is available in a 4/3/3 winds version as well the standard 5/4/4 big band set up. Little Big Band Version (4/3/3) $50 Full Big Band Version (5/4/4) $50 Boston Baked Blues By Eddie Carr Listen to it and see the score here: Written for Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, Bari Sax, 2 Trumpets, 1 Trombone, Guitar, Piano, Bass, and Drums. A basic swing chart, but with a lot of the goodies that are so central to good big band writing: a sax soli, counterpoint between the reeds and the brass, multiple soloists with background figures, an acapella tutti section, a little bit of a backbeat, and a shout chorus.   Little Big Band Version (3/2/1) $50

Webster Groves Promenade By Eddie Carr Listen to it and see the score here: An exciting, modern tune from Eddie Carr. A little bit harder a piece. In the Pat Metheny mode, it alternates between 5/4 and 4/4, perhaps a little like Pat Metheny. The changes for the solos lay nicely into a samba-like groove. Written for Alto Sax, 2 Tenor Saxes, Bari Sax, 3 Trumpets, 2 Trombones, Guitar, Piano, Bass, and Drums. A full big band version is also available. Jeff is a composer/arranger of jazz and contemporary music. His pieces include repertoire for big band, jazz combos, steel drums, concert band, vocal groups, solo instruments, and electronic music. He studied composition and philosophy at the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Massachusetts.
